I started working with dogs in 2018, while working as a teacher abroad in Cairo, Egypt. Fascinated by the street dog population in Cairo and the complicated coexistence between humans and dogs in the city, I began visiting rescues and spending time feeding and playing with the dogs around where I lived. At the same time, I adopted my own German Shepherd puppy, Luka. As a first-time dog owner, when Luka started displaying severe aggression toward humans and reactivity toward dogs, I was at a total loss. What started as a journey to solve Luka’s behavioral issues and provide him with a fulfilling life turned into a passion for dog psychology and training that prompted me to pursue a career in dog training.
After returning to Canada, and while completing a master's degree in Education, I spent my time providing walking and training services to the local community and volunteering with dogs at the Toronto Humane Society. I pride myself on constantly striving to improve my skillset through courses and continuing education. I have also apprenticed under the prestigious K9 Academy in Toronto. Since September 2022, I've been working and offering training services at Urban Bark in Toronto.
Training for me isn't just about the dogs- it's about the people too. It's my goal to empower owners to live their safest and happiest lives as a team with their dogs. Having gone through the experience of rehabilitating my own difficult dog, I know more than anyone the joy that comes from solidifying your relationship with your dog and finding solutions that enrich your lives together. I look forward to bringing that experience to as many owners as possible.
